Reading The Bible only is just fine, but you could also look into original translations and interpretations, especially when you have questions about what you are reading.
At http://scripture4all.org/ you can download a programm for free wich could help you to check on Bible parts. The literal significance of words is particularly interesting at for example the Creation story.

The Bible
The Bible is a series of seperate books and scriptures of various lengths and styles in narrative form, which have been written over a period of more or less a thousand years by some forty authors.
